The Mission
Compound Impact is where capital, climate and community converge.
We exist to identify and illuminate the strategic opportunities that emerge when leaders combine capabilities that are usually kept separate — particularly where climate finance, AI infrastructure, and community development intersect.
In a world where AI and technology rivals accelerate the pace of disruption, we believe that survival—and impact—requires convergence, not competition. We serve leaders who understand that the most powerful solutions live at intersections: where climate finance meets community development, where for-profit innovation meets nonprofit mission, where local action scales through seamless global capital flows.
Through rigorous research, authentic inquiry, and optimistic exploration, we reveal the “uncommon ground” where transformative impact becomes possible.
Who Writes This
I’m Jorge Fontanez, former CEO of B Lab U.S. & Canada, where I led an exciting phase of growth and coalition building across a network of 2,500 certified B Corporations, for-profit companies that meet the highest standards of governance, transparency and accountability when it comes to doing good by communities.
In 2025, I became a founding member of the Global Climate Finance Forum that exists to move capital to invest in climate solutions in LMI (low and moderate income) communities and the Global South. I believe in society’s need to harness the power of business for the greater good, and that by doing so, lower the barriers of access to capital and knowledge for the benefit and wellbeing of all people and the planet.
Now I’m exploring the questions that keep me up at night: What happens when climate finance and AI infrastructure compete for the same grid? When data centers and drought-prone communities compete for the same water? When capital flows around frontline communities instead of through them?

The Approach
This is practitioner-scholar research conducted in public. I’m working through questions, not delivering finished frameworks. I’ll share what I’m finding as I find it — including the uncertainties.
